Eric-Olof Söderström

Since 2005, the choir has been conducted by Eric-Olof Söderström. He has graduated with a diploma degree in choir conducting in 1985 and has also accomplished a diploma degree of the orchestral conductor class. Söderström has also conducted among others the Academic Women's Choir Lyran, male choir Akademen and several mixed and chamber choirs like Svenska Oratorieföreningen, Koiton Laulu and Tapiola Chamber Choir. The Finnish Chamber Choir that Söderström founded won in 1985 the EBU Let the Peoples Sing chamber choir competition. Söderström worked as the Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir choir manager in 1987-1991, as the artistic director of Finnish Radio Chamber Choir in 1990-1995 and as the choir manager at the Finnish National Opera in 1996-2006. In 2006 he was invited as a visiting conductor in the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir. He still continues as a visiting conductor at the National Opera.
