Saara Aittakumpu

Saara Aittakumpu is a choir conducting professional based in Helsinki. In addition to Kampin Laulu, she is artistic director of academic male voice choir The Polytech Choir. She has rehearsed the chorus for prominent orchestra productions at home and abroad, including at the BBC Proms. She and her choirs are active in commissioning new music, and she has conducted dozens of world premieres of choral works. She has also taught choir conducting at a number of educational institutions and courses.

Saara Aittakumpu completed her level A choir conducting examination with excellent marks at the Sibelius Academy in 2007 and graduated with a M.Mus. degree in the same year.  She received the Conductor Prize at the 5th International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition in Linz, Austria and at the International Baltic Sea Choral Competition in Riga, Latvia. In 2018, the Finnish Choral Conductors' Association named her Choir Conductor of the Year.

Saara Aittakumpu has been artistic director of the Kampin Laulu chamber choir since August 2019.
